Memphis International Airport is served by regular public buses and these are operated by the Memphis Area Transit Authority (MATA). These buses run from outside of Terminal C into downtown Memphis, along route number 32A.
Many Memphis hotels are now choosing to provide a free door-to-door shuttle for their guests. Direct telephones are easy to locate, being sited within the baggage reclaim areas of MEM's Terminal A, Terminal B and Terminal C buildings. The shuttle buses stop just outside of these areas.
Further shuttle buses depart at regular intervals alongside the baggage reclaim areas and are often shared with other passengers. Shuttle bus companies in operation at the airport include the Bettie Bus, PC Transport, Premier, Tennco and Unique Travel.
Taxis provide the ultimate in sheer convenience and the journey into the city center - this will usually take in the region of 20 minutes. Local taxis companies at the airport include Advantage, Checker Taxi Cabs, City Wide, the Metro Taxi Cab Company and Yellow Taxi Cabs.
Where prearranged well in advance, luxury cars and limos can be organised, collecting passengers on the lower drive. Reputable limousine firms include First Class Limos, SFAX, the Tennessee Limo Service and T-Star.
